Reverend Calderon has been serving as Director of Leadership Excellence and Inclusion for the Iowa Annual Conference and Pastor of Des Moines Marquisville. She received her Master of Divinity at Saint Paul School of Theology and has served the Iowa United Methodist Conference for 21 years in seven different appointments.

LaTonya has served on the Board of Ordained Ministry which included the Support and Accountability Chair and as a member of the Personnel Availability Review Committee. LaTonya was Co-Dean and Registrar of the School for Ministry. She served as Team Lead of the Southwest District Operational Team and an instructor for Advance Lay Speaking. LaTonya is a Co-Instructor for Preaching and Worship and the Instructor for Cultural Competency for the Iowa Licensing School. She is a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Developmental Inventory and soon to be a certified Reflective Supervisor. LaTonya was also elected as a 2019 General Conference delegate that has now become the 2024 delegation.

Her Community Involvement includes serving as a Hawthorne Hill board member, the Urbandale Civil Rights Commission, the Johnston School District – School Improvement Advisory Committee, and as a Walnut Creek YMCA board member. LaTonya is married to David Calderon. She has two children, Jasmine, a DMACC Freshman, and David Michael, a Johnston High School Junior, and an adult bonus daughter, LaQueysha, who lives in Dallas and is the proud mother of their grandson, Riley.
