Sidney has a passion for keys and is happy to share his talents and faith at First United Methodist Church. He started playing piano in kindergarten, organ in 6th grade and harpsichord during his sophomore year of high school. He has won two competition music scholarships: one for organ and the other for piano. These scholarships helped to pay for a summer of organ lessons, and an organ camp at the University of Iowa. In addition to the organ scholarship, the University of Iowa granted him a 50% scholarship to attend their organ camp. Sidney has been the substitute service organist for: St Paul Presbyterian, 1st United Methodist, St. John’s Lutheran, and Ankeny Presbyterian. He has attended music camps at Oberlin Conservatory, St Olaf and University of Iowa Music Camps. Sidney was featured on harpsichord when he played in a chamber ensemble which accompanied a choir in concert at Urbandale High School. He has competed in several piano/organ competitions and has earned #1 ratings. His teachers have expressed much appreciation towards Sidney’s work ethic. He loves to sing as well as play organ, harpsichord and piano. Last year he auditioned for the Honors Choir Program and earned a spot in the Honors Series Choir which performed in concert at Carnegie Hall. Sidney loves all things music, including what his friends are doing. He supports his friends by attending their musical events or accompanying them in concerts. His passion for music is endless. He will be majoring in organ studies at college.
