Do you enjoy being outside in the cool fall air and doing something for others at the same time? We have the opportunity to help harvest vegetables once again! First Church members will help harvest vegetables to be distributed through local food pantries and other partner agencies.
Gardening for Good grows fruits and vegetables on a farm near Madrid, IA that are distributed through local food pantries and other partner agencies. In 2020 over 150,000 lbs of vegetables were donated to food pantries in Iowa. On Saturday, October 15th (rain date October 22nd) we will meet in the church parking lot at 8:30 AM and carpool from the church to the farm near Madrid. We will harvest vegetables for a couple of hours and enjoy lunch at a restaurant in Madrid before returning to Des Moines.
This is an enjoyable day spent in the fresh fall air with your church family. It’s a great experience for children, too. Hope to see you on the 15th of October. Please sign up on the attendance slip at worship or call the church office at 515-255-6209 so we know how many people to expect.
